Year 9 History
Year 9 students study one semester of history. This is made up of the Australian Curriculum: History unit “The Making of the Modern World”. This unit presents an overview study of the history of the making of the modern world from 1750 to 1918 AD. Depth Studies in this unit may include: Making a Better World, Australia and Asia, The First World War.
Key questions for consideration in this unit are:
What were the changing features of the movements of people from 1750 to 1918?
How did new ideas and technological developments contribute to change in this period?
What was the origin, development, significance and long-term impact of imperialism in this period?
What was the significance of The First World War?
By the end of this unit students should be able to:
- Use historical terms and concepts to sequence events and developments in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries
- Demonstrate the impact and significance of World War I
- Identify and analyses different historical interpretations in written and oral work
- Construct a written argument using essay structure that uses evidence from a range of primary and secondary sources that are acknowledged
- Uses various communication forms and digital technologies to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of an important historical event, issue or person
